Units Comparison: Bounty Hunters

Bounty Hunters in SWGB are a very special unit. They're the only unit that excels against Jedi, Sith, troopers, and pretty much any unit in the game, thanks to their relatively high base damage.

Some civilizations have bonuses to their fortress units, which means all the Bounty Hunters are not exactly alike. Let's find out which ones are the best.

Lucky Llama's Gameplay Videos

I always keep looking on Youtube for new Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds videos. From time to time, I'm able to find new people who shared several gameplay videos.

Today, I found Lucky Llama's channel. Although he doesn't appear to actively post new ones as of late, he has quite a few interesting SWGB replays you can watch on Youtube.

Units Comparison: Repeater Troopers

Repeater Troopers are a very important unit in most games. They're cheap, fast to produce and for some factions they can be very powerful. Let's compare all the available Repeater Troopers and find out which ones of the 8 civilizations has the best Repeater Troopers.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Now Available on GoG for $5.99!

That's great news. They've re-released SWGB on GOG so that it runs properly on modern computers. That means you won't have to kill Windows Explorer every time you wanna play! I've read though that they didn't fix the widescreen issue, but that's something I'll talk about soon, since it can be fixed quite easily.

Click here to check it out and perhaps buy it for $5.99.

That's ridiculous. I paid $65 for that game in 2001.

Hopefully, this re-release will breath some life back into the communities built around SWGB.

What Does the Genie Engine Have to Do with SWGB?

The Genie Engine is a game engine developed by Ensemble Studios and used in several popular computer games, such as Age of Empires, Age of Empires II and its expansion (but is not used in other Ensemble Studios games) and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds.

That's why SWGB feels like AoE2 in space. It uses the exact same game engine, modded into a Star Wars game. You take the very best RTS engine available at the time and make a Star Wars game with it? How can it possibly go wrong?

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds inherits a ton of features that made Age of Empires 2 and its expansions instant hits. The wide range of units available, how they interact in battle, the many ways to win (or lose), the obvious differences between factions and their unique units. These, among other things, made these games so precious. Oh and don't forget the farm queue!

Welcome to the SWBG Blog!

Welcome to my Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds blog !

I'm going to share various information, strategies, tips and tricks for SWGB. I've been playing this game for about 13 years now. It's one of the only games that I never really grew tired of. I seem to always come back to it and enjoy it again and again.

My continued interest over the last decade for the game motivated me to start a blog project out of it and see what happens.

I'm definitely not a pro though. I'm just an avid SWGB player who wants to hopefully share his passion of the game with others.

Thank you for reading! :)
